Creative, Bold, Unforgettable: Ljubljana as a Destination Everyone Remembers

Turizam Ljubljana and McCann Ljubljana, member AMA Group, on a silver award at the International Tourism Film Festival – Africa 2025 for the City of Cyclists campaign. The award was earned thanks to an extraordinary activation promoting the Slovenian capital through spectacular cyclist acrobatics performed at recognizable city landmarks such as Ljubljana Castle, Prešeren Square, and Nebotičnik.
A Cycling Spectacle in the Heart of Ljubljana
Tourism Ljubljana was also a partner of the Tour of Slovenia in 2024, one of the most important cycling events in the region. The third stage started from the capital, which provided an excellent opportunity to present Ljubljana as an ideal destination — both for a relaxing city break with a rich cultural offer and for an active, adrenaline-filled holiday full of excitement.
Several local partners participated in carrying out the activations with cyclists and acrobats: at Prešeren Square, 50 cyclists from different Ljubljana cycling clubs and other volunteers performed a choreography using bikes from the public bike-sharing system BicikeLJ. A female acrobat rode a bicycle on the tower of Ljubljana Castle with a view of the city’s panorama, while three stunt cyclists descended vertically down the 70-meter façade of Nebotičnik.
All acrobatics were performed under the watchful eye of well-known stuntman Filip Kržišnik, and on the legendary Rog bicycles — a symbol of Ljubljana’s and Slovenia’s cycling industry.
When an Adrenaline Performance Becomes a Global HitThis performance achieved remarkable results: 10 million viewers on TV Slovenia and Eurosport, which broadcast the event to 130 countries worldwide. In total, more than 100,000 views were recorded across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X). With such a strong public response came official recognition as well.
At the Best Host award ceremony of the 30th Tour of Slovenia, Ljubljana received the award for most creative destination. This award was introduced for the first time this year, inspired by the jury’s enthusiasm for the daring descent of cyclists down Nebotičnik.
In addition to the viral effect of the acrobatics themselves, Turizam Ljubljana and the McCann Ljubljana agency also prepared a promotional video, further contributing to Ljubljana’s recognition as a cycling and sustainable tourist destination — a city where landmarks can be explored by bicycle.
